Sudan army reports shooting down FH-95 drone in North Kordofan

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced it shot down a hostile FH-95 drone on Thursday morning near the Al-Kukaiti area in North Kordofan state. The incident occurs as fighting between the SAF and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) intensifies in the strategic region.

Drones have become a central element of the ongoing civil war in Sudan. United Nations data indicates that drone attacks by both sides resulted in over 1,000 civilian fatalities during the first half of this year. Recent strikes in North Kordofan have targeted civilian infrastructure, including a courtroom in Um Ruwaba that killed approximately 10 people and a college in al-Obeid.

In addition to human casualties, drone strikes have caused significant material loss. UNICEF reported that strikes on two warehouses in the Shikan locality on September 20 destroyed hundreds of thousands of school textbooks and other educational materials.
