South Kordofan attacks leave at least 26 dead in Sudan
At least 26 people were killed and dozens injured following two separate attacks in Sudan's South Kordofan state, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.
The first incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Debi and Luwairi areas, south and west of Kauda. The network reported that more than 21 people, including women and children, were killed in the attack, which was attributed to the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), an ally of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This action is described as a violation of a ceasefire agreement reached in late August and has reportedly targeted the Otoro tribe, a minority community in the Nuba Mountains.
A second incident took place early Friday morning when artillery shelling struck residential neighborhoods in the city of Dilling. This attack killed approximately five people, including a child, and injured at least seven others.
The Sudan Doctors Network has condemned these actions as violations of international humanitarian law and the targeting of civilians. The ongoing conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023, continues to cause widespread displacement and humanitarian crises across the region.
