Sudan: Eight injured in RSF drone attack near Omdurman
A drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Al-Fath area, west of Omdurman, injured eight people on Thursday morning. Most of the casualties are reported to be children. The victims were transported to Al-Naw Government Hospital for medical treatment.
Acting Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Al-Mustafa Ali, visited the injured at the hospital and expressed regret over the targeting of unarmed civilians. Earlier that morning, Sudanese Army anti-aircraft defenses reportedly intercepted a separate drone attack targeting the capital, Khartoum.
The incident occurs amidst the ongoing armed conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF, which began in April 2023. The war, sparked by disputes over the integration of the RSF into the military, has led to a massive humanitarian crisis, including famine, tens of thousands of deaths, and the displacement of approximately 13 million people. According to United Nations data, 1,100 civilians were killed by drone attacks in Sudan between January and June 2026.
