Sudan Embassy and Labor Unions call for RSF to be designated a terrorist group

The Sudanese Embassy in Ankara, the HAK-İŞ Confederation, and the Sudanese Trade Union Confederation (SWTUF) have issued a joint declaration calling for the international community to recognize the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as a terrorist organization.

During a press conference marking the first anniversary of the El Fasher massacre, the groups described the conflict ongoing since April 2023 as a planned and destructive movement targeting civilians, the legitimate state order, and social infrastructure. The declaration highlights systematic killings, sexual violence, and forced displacement attributed to the RSF.

The statement urges the United Nations, the African Union, and the Arab League to impose comprehensive sanctions on the RSF leadership and its financiers. It specifically calls for the identification and blocking of arms, logistics, and financial support lines, including increased international pressure on entities in the United Arab Emirates involved in financing.

Furthermore, the groups expressed support for the Turkish government to continue its support for Sudan’s legitimate government and to lead international efforts to designate the RSF as a terrorist group. They emphasized the need for a permanent ceasefire and the establishment of secure humanitarian corridors to protect civilians.
