Sudan fuel warehouses in Al-Jazirah hit by drone attack
Sudanese authorities announced on Sunday that civil defense teams successfully extinguished a fire at fuel warehouses in the Um Alila area, located east of Al-Jazirah State. The fire broke out after the facilities were targeted by drones, which authorities attribute to the Rapid Support Forces.
The Al-Jazirah Conference Authority, a non-governmental body, condemned the strike as a ‘terrorist crime,’ noting that three drones fell in the residential village of Wad al-Barr al-Khawalda. The organization warned that targeting fuel supplies threatens essential services, transportation, and the safety of civilians in the region.
While the Al-Jazirah State government has not yet released specific details regarding material losses or human casualties, social media footage showed a drone crashing into agricultural land. The incident occurs amid the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which has displaced approximately 13 million people since April 2023.
