Sudan market drone attack kills 11 civilians

A drone strike hit the Abu Zaeima market in the Hamrat Al Sheikh area of North Kordofan, Sudan, on Saturday morning, killing at least 11 civilians and wounding dozens more. The attack came less than 24 hours after similar drone strikes damaged villages and a civilian vehicle in the same region.

The Emergency Lawyers’ Group condemned the strike as a breach of international humanitarian law, noting that the perpetrators were not identified. Sudanese forces are currently attempting to retake territory from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) amid intensified fighting. The United States warned that drone attacks in the Kordofan region have caused at least 880 civilian casualties between January and April 2026.
