Sudan: Air strike on WFP aid trucks kills driver

An air strike on two World Food Programme (WFP) contracted trucks in Sudan’s South Kordofan state killed one driver on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The vehicles, which were clearly marked as humanitarian transport, were traveling between the cities of Dilling and Kadugli when the attack occurred. The WFP has called for a swift and impartial investigation into the incident.

The strike follows another incident in Dilling just one day prior, where a WFP truck struck an explosive device after delivering food assistance. Additionally, the Sudan Doctors Network reported that four civilians, including a woman and a child, were killed in drone attacks in residential areas of Dilling on Friday, attributing the strikes to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The United Nations Human Rights Council has condemned the increasing use of drone strikes and indiscriminate attacks against civilians in Sudan. The council adopted a resolution extending its fact-finding mission and demanded an immediate ceasefire, noting that the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the RSF has displaced millions and created a massive humanitarian crisis.
