Sudanese Armed Forces gain territory amid border drone incident

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have made significant military gains against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in recent weeks. In North Kordofan, the SAF recaptured the strategic town of Al-Mazroub, a vital livestock market and transit route. This advance is expected to disrupt RSF supply corridors and restrict their movement west of Bara. Additionally, the SAF’s 4th Infantry Division repelled assaults by RSF and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) forces in Blue Nile state near the Ethiopian border.

Simultaneously, tensions have escalated along the border between Sudan and the Central African Republic (CAR). An unidentified drone entered the airspace over the RSF-controlled town of Um Dafuq in South Darfur, prompting RSF troops to open fire. The aircraft reportedly retreated toward CAR territory. This incident occurs amid heightened regional instability, as Central African opposition fighters operate near RSF-held areas and the Sudanese conflict increasingly intersects with the security crisis in the Central African Republic.
