Sudanese Armed Forces seize Al-Mazroub in North Kordofan

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have seized full control of Al-Mazroub in North Kordofan following intense combat with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The town is considered a strategic location, serving as a vital link between North Kordofan and West Kordofan, which could potentially disrupt RSF supply lines running from Darfur.

Army Special Forces spokesperson Mohamed Didan confirmed the takeover, noting that the battles resulted in significant casualties and loss of equipment for the RSF. Local humanitarian groups, including the Dar Hamar Emergency Room, indicated that this military advance facilitates the army's movement toward West Kordofan.

This development follows a series of recent territorial gains by the SAF in North Kordofan, including the capture of several other locations. However, the broader civil war, which began in April 2023, remains unresolved, with the RSF maintaining control over much of Darfur and parts of Kordofan. The conflict has contributed to a massive humanitarian crisis, displacing millions of people across the country.
