Sudan: 22,000 displaced in Blue Nile State amid rising conflict
Mass displacement is occurring across Sudan as fighting intensifies. The United Nations reports that approximately 22,000 people have fled their homes in Blue Nile State over the past week due to escalating combat in Qaisan province. Local aid groups, such as the Qaisan Emergency Room, noted that 20,000 of these individuals fled specifically from the 'City 12' area.
In response to attacks by the Rapid Support Forces and their allies, the Sudanese Army has deployed military reinforcements to Blue Nile State, including joint forces arriving in the capital, Damazin. Simultaneously, the Sudanese Air Force has conducted raids against RSF positions in Kordofan.
Violence has also been reported in other regions. In North Kordofan, attacks near El Obeid resulted in casualties and looting, while the International Organization for Migration reported 450 people displaced from Al-Qardoud Abu Zaid. In West Darfur, a drone strike on a fuel market in Edikong caused civilian deaths and injuries.
