Sudanese army recaptures strategic positions in Blue Nile state

The Sudanese military has reported regaining control of two strategic locations in the southeastern Blue Nile region following intense clashes. According to the army’s 4th Infantry Division, forces recaptured the Bukuri military base in the Geissan locality and the area of Uklili in the Kurmuk locality.

The Bukuri base serves as the headquarters for the military’s 13th Infantry Brigade. Control of Uklili is considered significant as it sits along the road connecting Kurmuk with the regional capital, Ed Damazin, allowing the military to influence movements across the Kurmuk, Geissan, and Bukuri fronts.

The recent advances follow conflicting reports from the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS), which includes the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Abdelaziz al-Hilu faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N). Earlier this week, TASIS claimed to have seized the Al-Baraka military base.

Additionally, Sudanese army spokesman Asim Awad stated that air defenses shot down a “hostile strategic drone” that had entered Sudanese airspace from Ethiopia near Bukuri. These territorial shifts occur amid escalating conflict in the Blue Nile state.
