Sudanese Army seizes Sudari in North Kordofan

The Sudanese Armed Forces announced on September 25, 2026, that they have seized control of the city of Sudari in North Kordofan state. According to military statements, the city was captured following intense clashes that resulted in significant casualties and equipment losses for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Sudari is considered a major stronghold for the RSF in the northern part of the state. The area is strategically located near Hamrat al-Sheikh and Umm Bader, bordering North Darfur to the west and West Kordofan to the south. Social media footage released by military and armed movement units reportedly shows destroyed combat vehicles attributed to the RSF within the city.

This development follows a series of military advances by the army in North Kordofan, including the recent capture of eleven areas and the city of Hamrat al-Wiz in early September. These movements aim to tighten control over the northwestern parts of the state and secure key routes, such as the national road connecting Bara to Omdurman.

The conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, has led to tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of approximately 13 million people.
