Suhyup Central Federation holds seminar on offshore wind power expertise

The Suhyup Central Federation held a seminar to strengthen expertise in offshore wind power projects, aiming to ensure that fishermen and fishing communities can participate in and benefit from these developments.

Following a memorandum of understanding signed with the Korea Development Bank in July, the seminar focused on building internal expertise in project analysis and financial management. The initiative seeks to create a virtuous cycle where profits from offshore wind energy are shared with local fishing communities, which often see these projects implemented in their primary working waters.

The seminar included sessions on the construction and operation of wind farms, financial structures and risk management through project financing (PF) expertise, and methods for profit sharing with residents. Suhyup and the Korea Development Bank plan to continue collaborating to refine participation models and expand financial support for offshore wind projects that promote coexistence with the fishing industry.
