Suicide prevention advocates call for improved support for youth

María Carla Chini, a volunteer for the Asociación Civil Hablemos de Defender la Vida, has emphasized the necessity of responsible communication and early intervention in suicide prevention for children and adolescents.

During the ‘Cultura en Diálogo’ cycle, Chini highlighted that prevention is not solely the responsibility of health professionals. While the association employs specialists such as psychologists and psychiatrists, she noted that any individual can learn tools to provide support and accompaniment. Chini also addressed the role of the media, stating that responsible reporting can be a significant asset in prevention efforts rather than a negative influence.
