Sulong Chalil elephant spotted moving through Titiwangsa Range
Recent sightings of the male elephant known as Sulong Chalil have been reported in the Titiwangsa Range. Social media updates indicate the elephant was seen moving toward the Titiwangsa area, with observers noting that the wound on its leg appears to be healing.
There is ongoing public debate regarding the elephant's movement. While some social media users have called for Sulong to return to its habitat in Gua Musang, others argue that the animal is simply following its natural routine of moving between the Titiwangsa Range and Jeli to find food and water.
Proponents of leaving the elephant in its current area point out that Sulong's previous presence in Gua Musang led to significant human-wildlife conflicts, including crop damage and safety concerns for local residents and schoolchildren. Some community members had previously supported efforts to relocate the elephant to Gerik to avoid these tensions.
