Sultangazi Begins Construction of 144 New Earthquake‑Resistant Homes
Sultangazi Municipality has demolished the old Ürünkent residential complex in Esentepe neighbourhood and started building a new site with 144 housing units and separate commercial spaces. The project replaces a former 120‑unit building and includes an underground parking facility to alleviate local parking shortages.
The redevelopment is part of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change’s “Half is Ours” campaign, aimed at converting risky structures into earthquake‑resistant homes. Deputy Mayor Mehmet Yiğit highlighted the priority of resident safety, noting that the effort is carried out under Mayor Abdurrahman Dursun’s leadership and involves a 100% consensual agreement with property owners.
