Sumatra regional governments receive performance awards in Batam

During the 2026 Batch II Regional Sumatra Outstanding Local Government Appreciation event held in Batam, several regional governments received awards and fiscal incentives from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Batam City, represented by Mayor Amsakar Achmad, was recognized in the '3 Million Houses Program Implementation' category for its commitment to providing decent and affordable housing. Other cities receiving this specific award included Bandar Lampung and Pekanbaru.

The Riau Islands Provincial Government, represented by Governor Ansar Ahmad, received the 'ASRI Waste and Environmental Management' award at the provincial level. This recognition includes a fiscal incentive of Rp1.5 billion, which Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian noted will be deposited directly into the regional financial account rather than being used for personal interests.

Minister Tito Karnavian stated that these awards serve to motivate local governments and demonstrate positive achievements to the public. He also announced that another evaluation round specifically for the Sumatra region will be held to encourage other regions to improve their performance.
