Sumbawa Regency receives intellectual property rights for 55 Kre Alang weaving motifs
The Sumbawa Regency Government has officially received Communal Intellectual Property (KIK) certificates for 55 Kre Alang weaving motifs. The certificates were presented by the Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights NTB Regional Office, I Gusti Putu Milawati, to Sumbawa Regent Syarafuddin Jarot.
This certification aims to protect local cultural heritage from unauthorized claims and to document the historical significance of the motifs. Regent Syarafuddin Jarot emphasized that the certification is a starting point for preserving the tradition and passing it on to younger generations. He also noted the importance of adding historical literacy to each motif to increase product value.
To support the local weaving industry, the Sumbawa Regency Government has issued an appeal to civil servants (ASN) and government agencies to wear Kre Alang patterned clothing at least once a week. This initiative is intended to create a sustainable market for local artisans and integrate traditional textiles into daily life.
