Sunday Igboho Threatened, Afenifere Defends Him Amid Kidnap Crisis in Nigeria
A video circulated online shows a Fulani man threatening Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho, claiming he has information that Igboho plans to visit and burn houses. The man warned, “You won’t go back home alive,” and offered to provide N10 million for fuel if needed.
The pan‑Yoruba organization Afenifere issued a statement backing Igboho’s recent anti‑kidnapping actions in Oyo State. It said his two‑hour ultimatum for the release of a pregnant woman and other abductees targeted only criminals, not any ethnic group, and noted that Igboho has not acted violently or broken the law. Afenifere also praised President Bola Tinubu’s State Police Bill and urged fast legislative action, while condemning northern groups that called for Igboho to be restrained.
