Sunedu and private universities collaborate on educational quality report

The National Superintendency of Higher University Education (Sunedu) met with the Federation of Private Higher Education Institutions (FIPES) to discuss the V Biennial Report on University Reality. FIPES, which represents 70% of the country's university enrollment, submitted contributions to the report to help create a more comprehensive diagnostic of the educational landscape.

A key point of discussion was the development of indicators for university rankings. FIPES president Fernando Barrios suggested that these indicators should reflect the diversity of institutions and that evaluations should not necessarily result in a single, uniform grade.

Sunedu Superintendent Vicente Espinoza Santillán stated that listening to the institutions educating the majority of students allows for better public policy decisions regarding educational quality. Both parties agreed to maintain a dialogue concerning regulations and the continuous improvement of the university system.
