Sungrow commissions 35 MWh solar‑plus‑storage project in Sierra Leone

Sungrow has commissioned the World Bank‑backed RESPITE solar‑plus‑storage project in Sierra Leone. The installation uses eight PowerTitan Series battery units delivering a total of 35 MWh of storage, designed to operate as a micro‑grid and provide black‑start capability. The project is expected to raise the national electricity access rate from about 16 % to 36 %, improving supply for households, schools, health facilities and businesses, and creating roughly 100 local jobs.

The Swedish 70 MW/160 MWh battery storage plant in Ånge, supplied by Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 system, is also highlighted as the largest commissioned BESS in the Nordic region, underscoring the company’s expanding global energy‑storage portfolio.
