Sungurlu, Turkey Launches Tender for Flood‑Control and Stream‑Restoration Project

Mayor Muhsin Dere announced that the tender for the flood‑control and stream‑restoration works in Sungurlu, Çorum, has been published. The project, titled “Çorum Sungurlu İlçe Merkezi Dereleri Islahı Yapım İşi,” is part of Turkey’s Flood and Drought Management Program and will be financed by the World Bank.

Bids must be submitted by 10 August 2026. The works aim to lower flood risk, improve urban aesthetics and support city planning. In his remarks, Mayor Dere thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı, and officials of the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) for their support.
