Suno secures major music licensing deals with Warner Music and BMG

Suno, the American generative AI music company, has secured major licensing agreements with Warner Music Group and BMG. These deals represent a strategic shift from legal disputes over training data to formal licensing partnerships.

Under the agreement with BMG, the AI service will gain access to the company’s recordings and publishing rights. Crucially, the partnership operates on an opt-in basis, meaning songwriters and artists must provide explicit consent to have their work used in AI training. The deal also includes retroactive licensing for recordings that were previously used to train Suno’s models without prior authorization.

Suno CEO Mikey Shulman stated that the platform aims to provide new creative experiences and revenue streams for artists who voluntarily choose to use their names, voices, and compositions within the AI-generated music ecosystem. This follows a previous agreement with Warner Music Group in November 2025.
