Suntory to launch new Koshu wine blending four Japanese regions
Suntory is launching a new limited-edition white wine, ‘SUNTORY FROM FARM THE Koshu Terroir Ensemble 2025’, on September 8. The product utilizes an assemblage of Koshu grape spirits from four distinct regions: Nagano Prefecture’s Tateshina, and three locations in Yamanashi Prefecture, including Minami Alps, Chuo, and Kai cities.
By blending these different origins, the company aims to create a multi-layered aroma and concentrated fruitiness that a single vineyard might not achieve. The wine is a dry white with an alcohol content of 12%, priced at approximately 3,500 yen per bottle. Suntory noted that Koshu is particularly well-suited for pairing with seafood, such as white fish sashimi, due to its low iron content.
This release is part of a broader strategic push by Suntory to elevate ‘Japanese wine’ to a global standard. The company has announced plans to triple its Koshu grape harvest by 2035 compared to 2025 levels, aiming for a production volume of approximately 200 tons through its own vineyards and managed fields.
