Sunwoda unveils ultra-fast charging LFP battery technology
Chinese battery manufacturer Sunwoda has unveiled a new 15C lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery system designed for ultra-fast charging. The technology can charge from 10% to 97% capacity in just nine minutes at room temperature, providing approximately 100 kilometers of driving range for every minute of charging.
The system is engineered to perform in extreme conditions, maintaining high efficiency even at temperatures as low as -20°C, where it can reach 97% charge in 15 minutes. Sunwoda aims to manage the heat generated during high-power charging through an advanced thermal management system and offers a warranty of 10 years or 300,000 kilometers for non-commercial vehicles.
In a separate development regarding next-generation technology, Li Auto has announced plans to introduce solid-state batteries into its vehicles, with potential limited use starting in 2027 or 2028. While mass production is expected to take several more years to reach maturity, the company is actively working to move this technology from the laboratory to the automotive market.
Additionally, Geely is developing 2.2 MW ultra-fast chargers to reduce waiting times for electric vehicle owners, aiming to bring the refueling experience closer to that of internal combustion engine vehicles.
