Supergirl film posts $7.8 million North American preview earnings

Warner Bros. Pictures released the new DC Universe film *Supergirl* starring Milly Alcock in North America. The Thursday preview generated $7.8 million (about ¥12.9 billion) at the box office. The movie follows 2025’s *Superman* as the second installment of the revamped DCU.

Director Craig Gillespie said he “loves capturing as much as possible in real life,” explaining that many alien characters and a central street‑battle sequence were realised with practical effects, massive sets and real tanks rather than relying solely on CGI. The production built a full‑scale city block set and used six real‑weight tanks, one of which was detonated at a height of 12 metres for a stunt.

The film’s mixed critical reception is noted, with some reviewers praising Alcock’s performance while others find the story lacking. The opening figures suggest strong audience interest as the new DCU expands its franchise.
