Superintendencia de Competencia opens search for new head

The Superintendencia de Competencia (SiCom) in Guatemala has officially opened the selection process to appoint a new Superintendent. The successful candidate will lead the institution through a term ending on October 12, 2031.

The selection process follows the resignation of the previous superintendent, Jorge Miguel Castillo Castro. In the interim, Tomás Xocoy Acán has assumed the role of acting superintendent. The new leader faces the significant challenge of building the institution's administrative structure, which currently requires hiring approximately 15 specialized staff members to ensure full operational capacity by December 2026.

Interested applicants must be Guatemalan citizens of recognized honorability and professional capacity, hold active professional membership, and comply with the Law of Probity and Responsibilities of Public Officials. Candidates are required to submit an application form, a curriculum vitae, and a work plan not exceeding five pages. The deadline for submitting applications is August 31, 2026.
