Supreme Court Collegium recommends judges for multiple High Courts

The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, has recommended several new appointments to various High Courts across India.

In Delhi, the Collegium approved the elevation of eight judicial officers to judges of the Delhi High Court. The recommended individuals are Gurvinder Pal Singh, Nivedita Anil Sharma, Nisha Sahay Saxena, Sanjay Sharma-I, Bharat Parashar, Aditi Choudhary, Dinesh Bhatt, and Arun Bhardwaj. These officers are senior members of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service.

Additional recommendations include the appointment of Usharani, K. S. Bharath Kumar, and Nerale Veerabhadraiah Bhavani to the Karnataka High Court. For the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the Collegium recommended Yash Paul Bourney, while Manoj Prasad, Akhil Kumar, and Ram Sharma were proposed for the Jharkhand High Court.

The appointments must now be sent to the Union Government for consideration. Under the Memorandum of Procedure, the process involves consultation between the Chief Justice of the respective High Court, the Chief Minister, and the Governor before being finalized by the Centre and the Chief Justice of India.
