Supreme Court of India settles 400 cases via Samadhan Samaroh 2026

The Supreme Court of India settled more than 400 cases on the first day of its Special Lok Adalat, held as part of the Samadhan Samaroh 2026 initiative. The program, which aims to promote the consensual resolution of disputes, is being conducted under the guidance of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.

More than 600 cases were listed before 16 Special Lok Adalat Benches. Each bench consisted of two sitting Supreme Court judges alongside senior advocates and Advocates-on-Record. The sessions facilitated dialogue to help parties reach mutually acceptable settlements, covering various matters including matrimonial and property disputes, motor accident claims, land acquisition, tax matters, and service or labour disputes.

The Samadhan Samaroh initiative, which stands for Supreme Court Action for Mediated Adjudication and Disputes Harmonisation Across the Nation, began in April 2026. The current Special Lok Adalat is scheduled to continue until August 23, seeking to reduce the costs and burdens of prolonged litigation through pre-settlement processes and mediated adjudication.
