Supreme Court of Montenegro seeks judges for ECHR role
The Supreme Court of Montenegro has issued a call for interested judges to apply for secondment to the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg. This initiative continues a 15-year tradition of judicial cooperation between Montenegro and the ECHR.
Following a diplomatic request via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Montenegro is required to propose at least three candidates, from which the ECHR will select one to serve in the Court's Registry. The new engagement is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2027.
Applicants must demonstrate excellent proficiency in either English or French. The deadline for submitting biographies and applications to the Supreme Court is October 26, 2026. Supreme Court President Valentina Pavličić emphasized that the cooperation allows judges to transfer acquired knowledge and skills back to the national judicial system upon the completion of their mandates.
