Supreme Electoral Council announces December 6 election calendar
The Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) has announced the official calendar and regulations for the early general elections scheduled for December 6, which will determine the 50 members of the Assembly of the Republic.
Election bans have officially commenced and will remain in effect until a new Cabinet of Ministers takes office. Under these rules, state institutions, public economic enterprises, and local authorities must remain neutral. It is prohibited for these entities or public officials to provide donations or assistance to political parties or candidates. Furthermore, public resources, vehicles, and facilities cannot be used for partisan purposes, and no public funds may be used for publications intended to influence voters.
As part of the restrictions, all public appointments, transfers, and promotions for civil servants, workers, and contract personnel have been suspended. Exceptions are permitted for seasonal workers, temporary teachers to fill vacancies, and essential healthcare personnel under the Public Health Workers Law.
The election timeline includes the following key dates: political parties must finalize candidates by October 27, with applications accepted on October 30. Voter lists will be displayed for public review starting November 1. Election propaganda is scheduled to begin on November 10 and must conclude by December 5. Public opinion polls and research may be published until November 21.
