Supreme Federal Court indicts Bacellar and TH Joias for information leaks

The First Chamber of the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF) has unanimously decided to indict former Alerj president Rodrigo Bacellar, former federal deputy TH Joias, and federal judge Macário Ramos Júdice Neto.

The defendants are accused of obstructing investigations related to the leak of confidential information regarding Operation Zargun, an investigation targeting an armed criminal organization. According to the prosecution, Judge Macário leaked sensitive details about precautionary measures to Bacellar, who then alerted TH Joias. This leak allegedly allowed TH Joias to remove assets from his residence and vacate the property before law enforcement arrived.

The decision followed the vote of Minister Flávio Dino, who joined the rapporteur, Alexandre de Moraes, and ministers Cármen Lúcia and Cristiano Zanin in accepting the charges. The three individuals have been detained since the second half of 2025.
