Jersey Shore beach warnings: rip currents and high UV on July 18‑19

The National Weather Service issued beach forecasts for the Jersey Shore covering Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19. On July 18 a moderate risk of rip currents was reported, with a warning that life‑threatening currents were possible. A Code Orange air‑quality alert and a Small Craft Advisory were also in effect as south‑westerly winds of 15‑25 kt (gusts to 30 kt) generated 3‑6 ft seas. Wave heights were 1‑3 ft and the UV index was moderate at 4. For July 19 the risk of rip currents dropped to low. Expected wave heights rose to 2‑4 ft with northwest winds of 18‑22 mph (16‑19 kt). Temperatures were projected at 80‑84 °F and the UV index rose to a very high 8. Tide times and detailed high‑low cycles for each beach were also provided. Both days included standard marine forecasts covering wind direction changes and possible showers.
