Surinam Airways faces leadership resignation and flight disruptions

Surinam Airways (SLM) is facing internal leadership instability and operational challenges. Marlon Telting, the president-commissioner of the Supervisory Board, has resigned following a misunderstanding regarding his appointment. Telting had expected to be appointed as a second director to assist the current director, John Sandie, but the position was deemed unnecessary as Sandie recovered from a health issue. The Supervisory Board has accepted the resignation and submitted it to President Jennifer Simons.

Simultaneously, the airline is experiencing regional flight disruptions due to a technical defect with aircraft PZ-TCX in Guyana. These issues have caused delays and schedule changes across various regional destinations. SLM is currently collaborating with its operational partner, Global X, to mitigate the impact on passengers and restore regular service.
