Suriname and Netherlands discuss justice and security cooperation

Suriname’s Minister of Justice and Security, Harish Monorath, received the new Dutch Ambassador, Martine Jacoba Busstra, for an introductory visit to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The discussions focused on existing and potential initiatives within the fields of justice and security. Representatives from various services and corps under the Ministry provided updates on current partnerships with Dutch counterparts and explored ways to expand expertise and capacity through international collaboration.

A specific point of discussion was the Beveiligings- en Bijstandsdienst Suriname (BBS). The Ministry noted that the service has not maintained international contacts in recent years, and Ambassador Busstra expressed a willingness to explore potential cooperation and project opportunities for the BBS.
