Suriname installs Supervisory Board for Diplomat Institute
Suriname's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Cooperation, Melvin Bouva, has installed the Supervisory Board for the Suriname Diplomaten Instituut (SDI). The move aims to professionalize the institute and strengthen the training of diplomats and consular staff.
The new board is led by Chairman Robert Peneux, with Shaista Nabibaks serving as Vice-Chair, Richenel Trustfull as Secretary, and members Rose-Ann Franklin and Abigael Daal. The board is tasked with overseeing the institute's strategic direction, quality assurance, and the development of training programs.
Ambassador Miriam Mac Intosh, Director of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the necessity of continuous capacity building for officials representing Suriname internationally. Minister Bouva noted that the SDI must evolve into a comprehensive knowledge center, incorporating modern developments such as technology and artificial intelligence to prepare the diplomatic corps for a changing global environment.
