Suspect confesses to double murder in Puerto Rico before committing suicide
A man identified as William N. Rivera Sánchez was found dead in his apartment on Friday following a series of violent events in Puerto Rico. Before his death, which authorities have ruled a suicide, Rivera Sánchez posted videos on social media claiming responsibility for the murders of two individuals.
The first victim, identified as criminal defense attorney Luis Quiñones González, was shot while driving a vehicle near a courthouse in Ponce. His wife, who was traveling in a separate vehicle ahead of him, reportedly fired back at the assailant before transporting her husband to Dr. Pila Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The second victim, Félix Plaud, a former student leader and activist for the New Progressive Party (PNP), was reported missing by his family. His body was later discovered in the municipality of Guayama with gunshot wounds. In his social media broadcasts, Rivera Sánchez stated his actions were motivated by a financial dispute, remarking, ‘I got tired of doing things the right way, and yesterday I made the decision to do things the wrong way.’
