Suspect in crocodile pit incident has bail extended

A 30-year-old man from Norfolk has had his police bail extended until December 17 following the incident where a three-year-old boy was thrown into a crocodile pit at Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon.

The toddler, who was attacked by a crocodile after being thrown into the enclosure on June 18, sustained severe injuries including broken bones, tendon and nerve damage, and tissue damage. After spending over a month in the hospital, the child has since been discharged, and more than £117,000 has been raised for his recovery.

The suspect was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but was released after being assessed as unfit for interview. Norfolk County Council has launched a Section 42 inquiry to investigate whether the man, who is believed to have learning difficulties, is being neglected or abused while in care. Reports suggest the man was visiting the zoo with two carers at the time of the incident.
