Suspected criminal dies in police confrontation in Coruripe

Daniel Berto de Oliveira, known as ‘Dan’ or ‘Ratão’, died following a confrontation with police during ‘Operação Eclipse Fase 2’ in Coruripe, Alagoas. Authorities identified Oliveira as a member of the Comando Vermelho criminal faction and a suspect in local homicides.

Police reported that Oliveira refused to surrender and opened fire on officers, who returned fire. He was taken to a hospital but did not survive. Before the incident, Oliveira had posted various threats on social media and messaging apps, including claims that Coruripe ‘would become too small’ and threats to explode a grenade inside the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP).

During the operation, law enforcement seized firearms, narcotics, and a grenade. Specialized explosive disposal teams were called to safely remove the device. Officers also discovered clandestine cameras installed by criminals to monitor police movements.
