Sustainability and science events inspired by Saint Francis held in Italy
Various events inspired by the teachings of Saint Francis of Assisi are being held in Italy to address environmental sustainability, science, and human longevity.
At the Università Cattolica in Rome, a conference titled ‘Science, environment and responsibility: Saint Francis’ legacy for the 21st century’ will focus on the theme ‘Healthy Longevity on a Healthy Planet.’ The event features academic professors and members of the Franciscan community discussing the intersection of human health, respect for creation, and the protection of the planet for future generations.
Additionally, the third edition of the Eco Sanfra festival in Umbria is exploring themes of soil, community, and the universe. The festival aims to address modern challenges such as the climate crisis, water scarcity, biodiversity loss, and resource waste. The program includes scientific discussions with experts, including astrophysicist Edwige Pezzulli and ESA astronaut Captain Andrea Patassa, who will discuss viewing Earth from space to foster environmental stewardship.
