Sustainability initiatives launch in Portugal to promote reuse and recycling

In Portugal, new initiatives are targeting waste reduction and circular economy habits. ENTRAJUDA, in partnership with Innovagency, has launched an ‘Environmental Calculator’ to help citizens understand the ecological footprint of unused household items. The digital tool calculates the CO2 emissions, energy consumption, and water usage saved by reusing objects instead of discarding them, aiming to make the environmental impact of waste more tangible.

Simultaneously, the deposit and refund system, managed by SDR Portugal, has entered a new communication phase titled ‘True or False’. Following the collection of over 300 million packages in five months, the campaign seeks to address consumer doubts regarding deposit amounts and return locations. The initiative aims to combat misinformation and clarify the logistics of the recycling system to encourage long-term public participation.
