Sustainable energy and housing projects advance in Mexico and Spain

In Hermosillo, Mexico, the municipal government has launched the third stage of the La Campiña housing development under the Sello H 2.0 program. This initiative, a partnership with Canadevi, focuses on constructing 314 sustainable social housing units. These homes will feature thermal insulation, reflective waterproofing, solar panel readiness, and ecological devices designed to reduce water and electricity consumption.

In León, Spain, the Junta de Castilla y León, through Somacyl, is investing over 51 million euros to construct a biomass plant and deploy a Sustainable Heat Network. This infrastructure aims to provide renewable thermal energy to more than 28,000 homes and 150 public and private buildings, replacing approximately 1,200 fossil fuel boilers. The project is expected to reduce heating bills by up to 40% and cut annual CO2 emissions by more than 35,000 tons.
