Suvarnabhumi Airport faces delays and baggage issues due to flooding

Suvarnabhumi Airport and Thai Airways are facing operational disruptions due to heavy rain and flooding in the Bangkok area. The flooding has prevented ground handling staff from reaching their shifts, leading to a shortage of personnel. This shortage, combined with malfunctioning baggage carts, has caused flight delays and significant delays in baggage retrieval for arriving passengers.

Thai Airways has reported over 100 unprocessed pieces of luggage and has requested emergency personnel support from the Thai Air Force to assist with ground operations. The airport remains operational, but travelers are advised to avoid the Lat Krabang area due to high water levels and are encouraged to use the motorway or Burapha Withi Expressway.

In response to the regional travel disruptions, Vietjet has implemented a policy allowing passengers to change flights free of charge if they miss their connections due to flooding or traffic congestion in Bangkok between September 26 and September 28, 2026.
