Suvendu Adhikari campaigns for Nandigram and Rejinagar by-elections

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is intensifying campaign efforts for the upcoming Assembly by-elections in Nandigram and Rejinagar, scheduled for October 6. In Nandigram, Adhikari has appealed to minority voters to form a ‘friendship’ with the BJP, describing the election date as an ‘auspicious occasion’ to build ties with the party.

During his campaign, Adhikari also addressed long-standing political disputes. He presented medical documents from 2021 to claim that former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not suffer a fracture during a reported injury in Nandigram, suggesting the incident was misrepresented for political purposes. He has called for a new investigation into the matter now that the election code of conduct has lifted.

In Rejinagar, Adhikari met with the family of a six-year-old girl who died during a reported TMC rally stampede. The BJP has fielded Hasirani Rath in Nandigram and Sakharav Sarkar in Rejinagar, with high-profile star campaigners including Mithun Chakraborty and Samik Bhattacharya expected to support the candidates.
