Suzuki developing affordable mini electric vehicle for India
Suzuki is reportedly developing a new mini electric vehicle (EV) aimed at the budget-conscious mass market in India. The model is expected to debut within the next two years, with an estimated price range of 8.5 to 10.5 lakh rupees (approximately 233 to 288 million VND).
Unlike the e Vitara SUV, this new model is being designed from the ground up to optimize costs. It is expected to feature a dedicated electric platform rather than a converted internal combustion engine architecture, allowing for more efficient placement of the battery and motor. The vehicle is projected to have a driving range of between 250km and 315km per charge, depending on the battery capacity and version.
By targeting urban commuting needs with a smaller, more efficient battery, Suzuki aims to reduce both the weight and the retail price of the vehicle, returning to its core strength of providing accessible transportation for the general public.
