Suzuki to Invest 76 billion HUF in Esztergom plant for EV and battery production
The Hungarian government announced a 76 billion‑forint (about €200 million) investment by Suzuki Motor Corporation at its Esztergom manufacturing site. The funding will finance a major development programme that includes production of electric vehicles and battery packs, as well as capacity upgrades for crash‑box, paint and welding operations. The upgrade is scheduled for completion by summer 2025 and is expected to create roughly 2,800 jobs, with almost 90 % of the plant’s output destined for export. Minister of Economy and Energy Kapitány István highlighted the goal of expanding Hungarian supplier networks, engineering talent, R&D activities and university cooperation, noting that the state will contribute 1.9 billion forint to the project. In 2023 the Esztergom plant produced 108,072 cars sold in over 100 countries, generating €2.059 billion in revenue for 2025, of which €1.774 billion came from exports.
