SV League women's home openers feature competitive matches in Japan

The opening home matches of the SV League women's volleyball season saw intense competition across different regions in Japan.

In Okayama, the Okayama Seagulls faced the powerhouse Saitama Ageo Medics. The Seagulls utilized new talent, including left-handed player Kaho Wakaizumi and American recruit Jade Eliza Wright, to take the first set. Despite a strong effort and Wakaizumi scoring three consecutive points in the fourth set to force a close finish, the Seagulls ultimately lost the match 1-3. They later secured their first victory of the season in a subsequent match.

In Kurobe, KUROBE Aqua Fairies Toyama hosted Toray Arrows Shiga. The Aqua Fairies took the first set behind the performance of new Chinese national team player Gong Xiangyu, but Shiga rallied to win the next two sets. Although the Aqua Fairies fought back to force a full set, they narrowly lost 2-3. Coach Gen Kawakita noted that managing the opponent's foreign players at the net remains a key area for improvement.
