Svea Court of Appeal upholds life sentence for criminal network member
The Svea Court of Appeal has upheld a life sentence for Poya Shafie, a man linked to the Bronetwork and associated with the Foxtrot network. The sentencing follows a lower court ruling regarding serious criminal activities carried out during the winter and spring of 2023.
Shafie was convicted for his role in planning multiple murders in Stockholm and Sundsvall, intended to mark territory against rival criminal organizations. The court found that he used his position within the network to direct and exploit others to commit crimes.
The court noted that while some charges were dismissed, the gravity of the attempted murders and the negative impact of these crimes on society justified a life sentence. Additionally, another man who was acquitted by the district court was convicted by the Court of Appeal for a serious weapons offense.
