Sveta Nedelja and Mostar announce family support measures

Local authorities in Sveta Nedelja, Croatia, and Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, have announced measures to support young families through childcare subsidies and housing initiatives.

In Sveta Nedelja, Mayor Irene Franković has established funding for nannies and childcare services for the 2026/2027 pedagogical year. The municipality will cover the full cost of these services, up to the economic price of a kindergarten. Additionally, the municipality has opened a public tender for the right to build houses on municipal land in Martinska. This initiative offers four plots ranging from 810 to 1,059 square meters for 99-year leases to help young families secure housing.

In Mostar, a new agreement has been signed to continue kindergarten subsidies until December 31, 2026. This follows a decision by the Government of the Republic of Croatia to allocate 380,000 euros to the City of Mostar to support preschool education and training. These funds aim to ensure demographic sustainability and social security for the Croatian population in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Previously, subsidies covered approximately 1,200 children across 14 private kindergartens.
