Sweden deports 458 British citizens following rejected residency applications
Sweden has deported 458 British citizens following rejected residency applications, a rate that is higher relative to population than any other EU member state. The deportations affect British nationals who lived in Sweden prior to Brexit.
One such individual, a 65-year-old former business director, was recently deported from Stockholm to London Heathrow. Having lived in Sweden for nearly nine years, he reported having no property, family, or assets remaining in the United Kingdom, leaving him effectively homeless upon arrival.
While the current situation persists, opposition parties in Sweden that are positioned to form a government have promised to introduce urgent laws aimed at providing Britons with a second chance to apply for residency.
